Environmental Protection Bureau, Chiayi City (referred to CYC EPB) carried out the soil and groundwater pollution investigation and audition project Since 2004.This year (2017), CYC EPB still upheld the concept of “prevention is better than cure” to implement this project The achievements of final report shows below： 1. Analyses of groundwater quality periodically：According to the data of groundwater samples of 18 monitoring wells, the analytical results show that the items which higher than Groundwater Pollution Monitoring Standards are Background and quality indicators. Especially for MW-4 and MW-5, the analysis results are unusual. These monitoring wells should be investigated continued. 2. Maintenance of 20 monitoring wells: Each well carry out exterior inspection, repairs, interior maintenance. The results of maintenance show the functions of each well are still workable. 3. To repair 4 monitoring wells: Using purge air into well to clean away sediments, and then using video camera to record interior of well. Furthermore, repairing the external structure of 4 wells. 4. Monitoring quality of farmland periodically: The concentration of As of 4 farmland blocks reach to Soil Pollution Monitoring Standards, these blocks should be keep monitoring next year. 5. Regular inspection of pollution controlled sites: There are 4 pollution controlled sites, 1 pollution remediated site need to monthly check. Abnormal condition and illegal behavior do not be found according to monthly check, and these records are input to Soil and Groundwater Management Information System (the SGM System) for reference. 6. Management gasoline stations: Included to review the data via on-line applied and site audit of gas stations, which 3 stations audit on-site have been accomplished before mid-term. The major fault was the difference between document and situation of actual site, such fault would inform to owner, and ask them to correct the fault in specified duration, then would follow up for improvement. 7. Propaganda and promotion: The propaganda of Soil and Groundwater Pollution Act was held on May 3, 2017 at CPC Chiayi branch, it makes participants more understanding about Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Acts after the presentation of lecturer 8. Emergent Plan and Execution: there was none of emergency event to carry out. Forward to next year, CYC EPB still uphold the spirit of environmental protection to keep the environmental quality always clean and fresh.
